Veteran highlife artiste, Victor Olaiya has kicked the bucket at the age of 89 at the Lagos University
Teaching Hospital (LUTH). The entertainment industry in Nigerian is in a mode of sorrow as legendary
highlife guru, has been verified dead. According to news, the “Baby Mi Da” crooner was confirmed
dead by the managing director of Evergreen Music Company, Bimbo Esho through her Facebook page.
According to her, the Baby Jowo singer died on Wednesday by noon at exactly 12:00 pm at the
Lagos State Teaching Hospital(LUTH). Though The reason for his death is not unvailed but
it seems the artiste passed on after a brief sickness.
She wrote, “The Death of the Doyen of Highlife music in Nigeria The entire music world wish to
announce the death of a Legend of Highlife music one of the last man standing, the last of the original
Dr Victor Abimbola Olaiya OON.. This untimely incident happened at Luth hospital Lagos State at exactly 12noon today Wednesday
12th of February, 2020.. We pray that the Doyen of highlife music find repose with the creator while
the family and entire music community the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.. And to my name
Abimbola Olaiya I will miss your contribution to HIGHLIFE MUSIC. Dr Victor Abimbola Olaiya was 89 years
