The subject on the legalization of Cannabis in the Nation is a serious one and many have made
points expressing their views on the discussion. Mavin boss Don Jazzy has, though, shared his
points. The Mavin’s frontier reacted to the news of Zambia legalizing the plant in their country
and trust Nigeria should do the same. He took to his Twitter handle to justifies why the legalization
would be of favour to the country. According to him, if Zambia with a less population can make such
a daring move with a population of merely 20m million, Nigeria would definitely do more.
He elaborates that if the National Assembly can put cannabis on the names of items to legalize,
the financial state of the country would grow and there would be available money to move the country
ahead.
Over time, I’ve tried to wrap my head around the criminalization of Cannabis in the country
and why we continue living in self-denial, letting our faux religious and moral sentiments to
becloud our sense of advancement. So I have been thinking If Zambia with a population of barely
20 million can make this much, imagine how much Nigeria would make. Like I once said: we have a lot,
yet we complain a lot. The National Assembly can make constitutional reform that would put
“cannabis” as an item on the concurrent or residual list of the constitution so that state
assemblies can legislate on them. This would go a long way in making many states financially
buoyant and less dependent on the Federal govt. It’s high time we stopped complaining about the
unavailability of funds.
